West Bromwich Albion could reportedly end up paying £7 million as they close in on a deal for Kyle Bartley.

According to a report from The Sun, the potential deal that looks set to take Kyle Bartley from Swansea City to West Brom could end up costing the Baggies £7 million due to add-ons.

The Sun reports that Bartley is closing in on a move to The Hawthorns and is all set to have a medical ahead of completing to switch to join Darren Moore’s side and become their second signing of the summer following Sam Johnstone’s arrival.

It had appeared that West Brom would be paying around £4 million for the centre-back – the Express and Star was one to report that figure earlier this week – however, The Sun is now suggesting that the overall fee could end up rising to £7 million.

That price will certainly ramp the pressure up on Bartley. At £4 million, the deal appeared to be something of a steal given his previous season at Championship level where he nearly guided Leeds United into the play-off places.

A move would have still been a gamble for the Baggies however, with what appears to be Bartley’s final season at Swansea proving to be plagued by injury. But the element of risk involved in the deal perhaps increases slightly now that West Brom could end up paying £7 million.

Of course, with the latest report alluding to add-ons, it seems incredibly unlikely that West Brom will have to pay the full £7 million if Bartley does not prove a success at The Hawthorns, but it could still put some pressure on ahead of what looks set to be his first season with the club.

But in fairness to Bartley, there is every chance that he will prove to be a fantastic signing for West Brom and be worth every single penny – even at a potential £7 million fee.
