Burnley and Leeds United are both said to have been tracking the Swansea City centre-back.

The Sun reports that Kyle Bartley has agreed a new four-year contract with Swansea City, ‘ending the hopes of Burnley and Leeds United’.

Bartley shone while on loan at Leeds last season, and the tabloid claims he had remained a target for the Yorkshire side as well as Premier League Burnley, who are looking to replace Michael Keane at the heart of their defence.

But the 26-year-old’s displays at Elland Road are said to have convinced Swansea manager Paul Clement his future lies with them in the top flight, and a first-team role is ‘expected’ this coming campaign.

His existing contract is due to expire in less than 11 months’ time, which had offered hope that Swansea would agree to part with him permanently.

But it appears that Burnley and Leeds will now have to cross Bartley off their shopping lists as they continue to search for centre-back reinforcements.

Burnley are yet to find Keane’s successor more than a month after his £30 million move to Everton, while Leeds are increasingly thin on the ground in Bartley’s position, after Everton loanee Matthew Pennington was forced off during the Whites’ win at Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.
