Everton are reportedly keen on Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

According to The Mirror, Everton are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere during the summer transfer window.

Wilshere, 25, was pushed down the Arsenal pecking order when the Gunners signed Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach over the summer, and rather than sit on the sidelines at the Emirates Stadium, he chose to go out on loan and join Bournemouth.

After two injury-hit campaigns, which saw him play just 25 times in all competitions, the challenge was for Wilshere to build up his fitness and get back to playing regularly – and he’s done just that at the Vitality Stadium.

The England international has started 13 games for Bournemouth this season, and whilst he’s only grabbed one assist, he’s been impressing under Eddie Howe.

Wilshere is set to return to Arsenal at the end of the season, but his long-term future with the club remains in some doubt – and The Mirror claim that Everton are lining up a summer move to land him.

Manager Ronald Koeman has seen summer signing Idrissa Gueye impress since his move from Aston Villa, but with Gareth Barry almost 36, the Toffees need to look to the future, with neither Muhamed Besic or Tom Cleverley seen as long-term solution in central midfield.

It’s now claimed that Koeman has made Wilshere a ‘major target’ for Everton in preparation for the summer transfer window, despite wanting to land Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin this month.

With just 18 months left on his contract, Arsenal will need to make a decision on Wilshere’s future very quickly, and Everton could offer a tempting deal given Farhad Moshiri’s investment – but with Manchester City also believed to be keen on the playmaker, Everton could face a real fight for his signature.
