Tuttomercatoweb reported before Christmas that Everton and Wolves were keen on the Marseille-born youngster, who has been compared to World Cup winner Raphael Varane due to his fine blend of technique and strength.
Agent Francesco di Frisco, meanwhile, told Calciomercato that Aston Villa, Lyon and Borussia Dortmund also expressed their interest.
But, while there should be plenty of drama between now and Monday’s transfer deadline, the £18 million-rated Simakan will be staying out of the headlines.
The youngster is expected to miss two months after undergoing knee surgery.
Serie A leaders AC Milan have since signed England international Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea instead, with an ill-timed injury blow ruining Simakan’s chances of a dream move to the San Siro.
Yet, if he can rediscover the form he showed before that cruel blow put his season on ice, there will still be plenty of offers next summer too.
