Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has decided that Naby Keita and Diogo Jota will both be on the bench tonight, according to the Daily Mirror.

Keita has been placed on a specialist fitness programme and is expected to return to Liverpool’s squad against Chelsea later.

However, the £48 million Guinean (BBC Sport) will not be given the nod to start – as Klopp wants to be cautious over his recovery.

It is a similar story for Jota, who will be kept in reserve rather than thrown in to start.

Klopp was asked about the Portuguese forward at his press conference yesterday, but refused to commit to confirming whether he would be in his squad.

The Mirror do claim that the summer signing will be involved, but he won’t take his place in Liverpool’s line up.

Klopp, instead, will keep faith in his front line to deliver the goods in a game against Chelsea.

Jota could now be a useful option to have from the bench late on, if the Reds need a goal.

Jota hit the back of the net nine times in his first 17 Liverpool appearances before injury struck, and Klopp’s side badly need the 24-year-old to find that sort of form again, after they have struggled for goals of late.
