According to Goal, Caoimhin Kelleher is set to start Liverpool’s clash with Wolves tomorrow, making his Premier League debut in the process.

The academy glovesman made his Champions League debut on Tuesday in the 1-0 win over Ajax at Anfield. Impressively, the Irishman kept a clean sheet, and also won the club’s Man of the Match award.

With Alisson Becker still injured, the 22-year-old looks set to stay in between the sticks ahead of Adrian.

Speaking after the Ajax win, beIN Sports quote Klopp as saying: ‘It is a situation, which I have to say, it was easy to decide for Caoimhin because he just deserves it, but it was difficult to decide against Adrian because he did really well for us: a lot of clean sheets, what a season last year, Super Cup final and all these kind of things.

‘He did a really good job, but we needed the package of Caoimhin – and he is a top talent anyway, but a really good shot-stopper and a top footballer, so I like that.’

The Reds’ win over the Dutch champions was only Kelleher’s fifth first-team appearance for Liverpool.

Three had come in the Carabao Cup, one in the FA Cup, and of course, one in the Champions League.

So, Sunday at Molineux – where the Liverpool No.62 will make his Premier League debut – will round off an unforgettable week for the Cork-born shot-stopper.

He will have made two debuts in two different, top-level competitions, having previously been Klopp’s third-choice with little hope of playing time.

It will be interesting to see how Kelleher fares against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who are a very dangerous outfit.

The likes of Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto and Adama Traore can cause problems for most sides, as Arsenal found out last week.
