According to The Mirror, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to make sure that striker Divock Origi earns a new contract after his display against Barcelona.

The Reds beat Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield on Tuesday night to reach the Champions League final, producing a staggering comeback having lost the first leg 3-0.

Georginio Wijnaldum grabbed a quickfire brace, and Origi completed a brace of his own late on to seal the win, having scored the opener.

The Belgian striker stepped up once again in the absence of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, firing Liverpool into the final with a superb showing.

Origi, 24, also scored the winner against Newcastle United on Saturday after coming on as a substitute, and his late impact appears to have guaranteed him a Liverpool future.

Origi’s contract is currently set to expire in 2020, meaning Liverpool may have been tempted to cash in this summer before he walks away for free, but that seemingly won’t happen now.

Klopp wants Origi to be given a new deal according to The Mirror, keeping him at Anfield beyond that 2020 expiration.

Origi snubbed a move to Wolves earlier this season in order to try and fight for his future with Liverpool, and having starred on Tuesday, it appears to have worked.
