According to The Athletic, Jurgen Klopp believes Ibrahima Konate has what it takes to form a commanding partnership with Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool.
Konate signed for Liverpool towards the end of May, and while he’s yet to make his debut for the Anfield outfit, Klopp clearly rates him.
Indeed, the German reportedly thinks that Konate has what it takes to form a great pairing with van Dijk.
Of course, this could mean bad news for Joe Gomez, who is usually seen as van Dijk’s regular partner at centre-half, but it seems as though Konate’s arrival could affect his standing in the pecking order at Anfield.
At the age of just 22, Konate still has a lot of room to grow, and as we know, it can take a player a while to warm-up to the rigours of the Premier League.
So, does Konate have what it takes to be van Dijk’s perfect partner? Well according to this report Klopp thinks so, and we have to agree with that point of view.

Jamie Carragher made a great point earlier this week about Konate’s physical attributes, and a player with such size and speed should be able to take to Premier League football like a duck to water.
Fingers crossed the Frenchman has a brilliant debut season at Liverpool.
