According to The Independent, Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is set for face-to-face talks with Jurgen Klopp.
It’s claimed that Wijnaldum will return to Liverpool’s Melwood training ground today having been on international duty with the Netherlands.
Wijnaldum’s return means he will now have the chance to speak to boss Klopp, given that Barcelona are continuing to pursue him.
The 29-year-old is out of contract in 2021, and it’s claimed that there are ‘differences’ between Wijnaldum and Liverpool over an extension.
During the international fixtures, Wijnaldum continued to be linked with Barcelona, who have appointed the midfielder’s former Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman.
Koeman wants Wijnaldum’s ‘steel and tactical flexibility’ at Barcelona, believing that he can bring something different to Barca’s midfield.

Klopp and Wijnaldum will seemingly try and thrash out the situation in the coming days, as Liverpool won’t want to start the league season with a distracted player.
Wijnaldum leaving would make a move for Bayern Munich’s Thiago more likely, with squad happiness is a concern for Klopp given how many midfielders he already has before adding another one.
