Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has phoned Timo Werner on several occasions in order to lure the RB Leipzig talisman to Anfield, according to Le10 Sport.
A £52 million transfer which felt like only a matter of time might have to wait until next summer.
The ongoing global health crisis, and the financial problems that have followed in its wake, mean the Premier League leaders will probably have to put a mega-money deal for one of Europe’s hottest goal-scorers on the back-burner for now.
However, that doesn’t mean that Klopp is not doing his level best to ensure Werner is kept in the loop.
Le10 Sport claims that the charismatic coach has spoken to his fellow German on the phone on multiple occasions to explain to him exactly what sort of a role he would have on Merseyside.

There is no shortage of rival suitors batting their eyelashes in Werner’s direction, including Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan. But such is the former Stuttgart forward’s desire to don that famous red kit, do not be surprised if he snubs all offers until Liverpool come calling again 12 months from now.
The report adds that Werner, a jet-heeled winger-turned-striker in the Jamie Vardy mould, could even act as a succession plan should Mo Salah or Sadio Mane be tempted by a move to a certain Spanish giant within the next year or so.
