Liverpool will not sacrifice Naby Keita to fund a move for Thiago Alcantara, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool have been linked heavily with the Bayern Munich midfielder in recent times, as Jurgen Klopp’s side aim to strengthen their midfield.

The Reds are in a financial position where they must sell before they buy though.

And reports in Germany with Kicker suggested that Keita was a player who could actually be sacrificed to make away for Thiago’s arrival.

However, the Liverpool Echo insist that there is no chance that Liverpool will offload the Guinean this summer.

Keita has shown great promise since lockdown, and there is a feeling that next season could really be his breakthrough year at Anfield.

Keita has been with Liverpool since 2018, but he is yet to really have a sustained run of starts.

Injuries have plagued the midfielder during his time at Anfield, and the pressure is gradually building on him to step up and prove his worth.

Keita will surely need to lock down a place in Liverpool’s starting line-up next season, if Klopp’s stance is to stay the same.

If Keita suffers another injury hit campaign then Liverpool may be more receptive to offers next year.

However, for the time being, it seems that keeping Keita is being of greater importance than bringing in Thiago by those in power at Liverpool.
