According to Diario Gol, Jürgen Klopp has asked Liverpool to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo as he looks to bolster his frontline.

The Spanish news outlet state that one, or even two, of Liverpool’s fabled front three in Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah could soon leave Anfield.

As a result, Klopp has identified the 20-year-old as someone he’d like to bring to Merseyside.

The initial signs are encouraging.

Diario Gol state that Real Madrid’s President, Florentino Pérez, would be happy to sell the Brazilian, as long as he receives €50 million (£43.5 million) for him.

That is fair enough, considering he spent €45 million (£39.2 million) on Rodrygo when he was just 17, as the Guardian covered.

The Osasco-born attacker was a genuine wonderkid, who Real Madrid felt they couldn’t miss out on when he was shining for Santos.

In truth, he still is a wonderkid, although he’s struggled to set the world alight at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Rodrygo has just eight goals and nine assists in 43 games for the Spanish giants since his move from Santos in 2018.

In fairness, Real Madrid aren’t currently the formidable outfit they used to be, so their lack of dominance might not be helping the youngster settle.

However, if anybody can get the best out of the South American, it’s surely Klopp, who has transformed the likes of Mane and Salah from decent forwards to world-class attackers.
