The Kieran Tierney transfer saga rumbles on but the Celtic left-back will not make life harder for the Scottish Premiership side.
Arsenal are said to have already matched the player’s £25million valuation, but the Record claims that Celtic were not happy with the structure of the deal, wanting the bulk of the cash to be paid up front.
Tierney taking a more direct role in pushing for the potential deal could weaken the Hoops’ negotiating stance, but it appears that the left-back will wait on how discussions play out between the two clubs before making a decision on his future.
It had previously been reported by the BBC that the player was keen on a move to the Gunners.
The Record believe that the Scotland international has not asked for a move nor indicated he is “anything other than happy” at his boyhood club.
It’s said he will only consider making the switch to the English Premier League if Arsenal meet terms that the Scottish champions are looking for.
The update is the clearest indication yet of what Tierney’s stance may be on a transfer saga that has dominated Celtic’s summer transfer window.
Currently recovering from an operation, the paper say that he might not even be fit to return to action until September.
Tierney, 22, has made 170 appearances for the club since making his debut in 2015, becoming an integral part of a side experiencing unprecedented domestic success, winning 11 trophies in that time.
Celtic can have confidence knowing they won’t have an unsettled player on their hands moving deeper into the transfer window, able to maximise any fee paid.
Considering the player’s contract also runs until 2023, the Hoops hold all the cards when it comes to his departure, perhaps a key reason why no club has so far been able to tick all the boxes with an offer.
