Thomson has been promoted from coaching Rangers Under-15’s.
The Scottish Sun have claimed that Rangers have given Kevin Thomson a promotion from coaching the Under-15’s to becoming head coach of the Under-18’s side.
Former Gers midfielder Thomson has been working alongside another ex-Ibrox star in Gregory Vignal, coaching the Under-13’s through to the Under-15’s at Auchenhowie.
Since retiring, Thomson had set up a private coaching academy that catered for all ages, which since saw him earn a coaching role with the Teddy Bears’ youngsters.
Now, Thomson has been given the role as head coach of the Under-18’s at Rangers, just a year after becoming a coach at Auchenhowie. He is expected to get the job on a full-time basis.
Thomson spent three and a half years as a player at Ibrox, joining the club from Hibernian in January 2007 before leaving to sign for Middlesbrough in July 2010.
He clocked up 107 appearances in all competitions for the Gers, scoring only two goals but helping the Glasgow side win two Scottish Premiership titles, a League Cup and a Scottish Cup.
