Sunderland are still on the look out for a replacement for Chris Coleman.

According to a report in the Sunderland Echo, Kevin Phillips is not Sunderland’s main target.
Phillips has been linked with a return to the Stadium of Light in recent times, with the Derby County assistant reportedly their first choice replacement for Chris Coleman.
However, the Sunderland Echo claim that Sunderland are yet to decide on who they want to take over from Coleman.
Sunderland’s takeover has still not officially gone through, and new owner Stewart Donald has much to ponder before he takes charge.

Should Sunderland appoint Phillips?
Putting Phillips in charge at Sunderland would unquestionably be one for the romantics, but whether it would be a wise move is up for debate.
Phillips has no managerial experience to date, and Sunderland hardly looks like the right club for a rookie manager.

Successive relegations have left Sunderland in a mess, and a full scale clear-out will need to happen at the Stadium of Light this summer.
Guiding Sunderland to promotion back to the Championship looks to be a momentous task for any manager, and it may need a more experienced head than Phillips to sort out the problems with the Black Cats.
