The Mirror reports [6 June, page 57] that Kenny Jackett wants to make James Henry his first signing at Portsmouth after the winger was released by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jackett signed Henry while manager of Millwall before doing likewise at Wolves, with the 27-year-old playing a part in both clubs’ League One promotion campaigns.

And Henry made it a hat-trick of ascents in April, helping loan club Bolton Wanderers return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Portsmouth will be a third tier side themselves in 2017-18 and will hope that Henry can repeat his party trick if they can lure him to Fratton Park.

And the Reading-born player may fancy a return south after three-and-a-half years at Wolves and then Bolton.

As well as Henry, Wolves have also released Mike Williamson – a Jackett signing and former Portsmouth player – after a disappointing 2016-17 campaign.

Would the departing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger be a good signing for Portsmouth?
