Report: Kennedy has just sanctioned his first promotion as Celtic’s interim boss

Celtic have charged John Kennedy with the task of steadying the ship from now until the end of the season.

The Hoops have been erratic for much of the season and Neil Lennon quit the club earlier this week following the 1-0 defeat by Ross County this past weekend.

Lennon was under huge pressure from Celtic fans after overseeing a disastrous campaign, culminating in Rangers boasting an 18-point lead in what was supposed to be the year that they won 10 Premiership titles in a row.

But Kennedy, Lennon’s former assistant, will be the main man for the next few months – and he’s just made his first big decision as interim coach.

According to The Scottish Sun, Kennedy has promoted former Celtic team-mate Stephen McManus to first-team coach, to work alongside Gavan Strachan and Stevie Woods.

The 38-year-old returned to Lennoxtown two years ago to work with the reserves, but has seemingly been promoted to work with the senior squad.

There were suggestions that Scott Brown would take on additional training responsibilities, but those are wide of the mark, The Scottish Sun added.

Celtic are back in action against Aberdeen tomorrow afternoon.
