Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow is looking to stay with the club this summer.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow wants to sign a new contract with the club despite alleged interested from Leeds United.
Darlow, 27, signed for Newcastle from Nottingham Forest back in 2014, but only started his Magpies career in 2015 having been sent back to the City Ground on a season-long loan deal.
The goalkeeper made just 10 appearances in the 2015-16 season, but racked up 34 games in the Championship as Newcastle won promotion back to the Premier League, but he has struggled to convince Rafael Benitez.

Darlow played only 12 times this past season, and with Sparta Prague loanee Martin Dubravka signing a permanent deal, many thought that Darlow would be on his way out this summer.
However, The Chronicle report that Darlow actually wants to sign a new contract with Newcastle, seemingly feeling that he wants to fight for his place at St James’ Park.
It’s added that Darlow still believes he can be a Premier League-calibre goalkeeper for years to come, subsequently ruling out a move to Leeds United, who had been interested in signing him.

The Whites are looking for a proven goalkeeper given Felix Wiedwald’s struggles, and Darlow was emerging as a top target given his experience with Forest and Newcastle.
However, with the shot-stopper seemingly looking to stay on Tyneside, Leeds will have to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper this summer.
