Italian outlet JuveLive claim Juventus are preparing a straight-swap deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in January, with Moise Kean going the other way – just days after Arsenal saw three offers for the Brazilian ace rejected.

Reports claim that Arsenal saw three deadline-day bids for the Brazil international turned down by Aston Villa. The final bid worth £25million. He remains at Villa despite his contractual situation, with his current deal expiring next summer.

Interest in Luiz is not going to die down, given his current deal. If Villa are to sort his future out, they will need to agree a new deal. Or, allow him to go, and get some cash for his signature. Now, they have a chance of a swap deal.

Juventus are planning a move that would see them sign Luiz in January. In return, Italy ace Kean would arrive at Villa. Kean is still an Everton player, but Juventus would make the move permanent before including him in a Luiz deal.

Juve would have to spend £27million to make Kean’s loan permanent. He is in the second year of a two-year loan deal from Everton. Signing him permanently and then using him to get Luiz is a deal Juventus will pursue in January.

Juventus need Luiz – but the Old Lady are hardly going to be alone in their pursuit of the Brazilian in January. Arsenal tried really hard to get him on deadline day and their interest could remain until the winter window.

It all depends on whether Juventus will stump up the cash to sign Kean. Then, it will also depend on whether Kean wants to join Villa, and if Villa really need Kean. They already have Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings up front.

Cameron Archer and Keinan Davis are also at the club, albeit out on loan. Villa do not need another striker unless Watkins or Ings depart – which is unlikely in January. It seems far-fetched, but you never know.
