Report: Juventus ready to return for Tottenham player not available for transfer

Juventus are ready to return in trying to sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, according to a report.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato have claimed that the Italian giants tracked Lo Celso four years ago, but they missed out on his signature when he made a switch to PSG instead.

He moved to Spurs last summer, and despite a slow start to life in North London, he began showing why he was purchased as the season progressed.

The report does state that Jose Mourinho, who wasn’t in charge when Lo Celso was purchased, sees the midfielder as a player who isn’t available for transfer.

Juve recently sacked former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri following his failure to win the Champions League, with club legend, Andrea Pirlo, taking over.

Lo Celso initially moved to Spurs on-loan from Spanish side Real Betis before the club paid £27 million for his services in January [BBC Sport].

Given that Spurs have only just paid such a big fee for the player, it would take an offer much more than that to lure the Argentine away from England’s top-flight.

On top of that, Mourinho cannot afford to lose any players because he has a thin squad as it is and he is hoping to add depth to that this summer.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been brought in from Southampton and he will no doubt provide that depth, quality and competition alongside Lo Celso.
