Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele.
According to The Telegraph, Juventus have all but given up hope of signing Tanguy Ndombele, realising that the Lyon star is set for Tottenham Hotspur.
Juventus are in the market for another midfielder this summer, and Maurizio Sarri’s side had seemingly identified Ndombele as a top target.
However, it’s now though that Juve have lost all hope of signing Ndombele, resigning themselves to the idea that Ndombele will be joining Tottenham instead.
Sarri and co may now focus on free agent Adrien Rabiot instead, and with Le10 Sport claiming earlier this week that Ndombele’s decision was down to Tottenham v Juventus, it seems that Spurs are in the clear.
All signs are now pointing towards Tottenham signing Ndombele in a club-record deal, believed to be worth around £55million, eclipsing the £42million paid for Davinson Sanchez two years ago.
As if this wasn’t a big enough coup already, the notion that Ndombele has snubbed the chance to sign for Juventus in order to join Tottenham is a testament to how Mauricio Pochettino has sold the club to the midfielder.
Juventus have won eight league titles in a row, and have major Champions League ambitions with Cristiano Ronaldo on board, but Ndombele has chosen Spurs instead.
Tottenham can now seemingly challenge with Europe’s elite for Pochettino’s top targets, and they will now be desperate to get the deal over the line before anybody can sneak in and try to take him elsewhere.
