Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, with both Manchester United and Tottenham also keen on the Brazilian international this summer.
According to Sky Italia, the Serie A giants are keeping tabs on the former Manchester City talent with Juventus’ pursuit of PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes struggling to get over the finish line, with Luiz now viewed by Massimilano Allegri as a solid alternative to the Argentine international.
Already subject to a reported £30m bid from Newcastle United in January, Luiz has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League outside of the top-six in recent years, with this summer seeing the likes of United and Tottenham reportedly chase the 24-year-old superstar.
Whilst Villa have remained insistent that Luiz isn’t for sale, Steven Gerrard’s poor start to the season coupled with new interest from Juventus could tempt the Brazilian to push for a move to Italy in the final days of the transfer window, with the Turin giants a noticeable upgrade on the Villa Park side.
Indeed, Juventus are intent on reclaiming their Serie A throne this season after two years of the Scudetto being shared in Milan, and with the Bianconeri once again competing in the UEFA Champions League, Luiz could be leaning towards a dramatic late switch to northern Italy.
Although there is Premier League interest in Luiz, United’s recent acquisition of fellow Brazilian Casamero and Tottenham’s recent inactivity in the market could make Juventus the favourites to sign the Villa star, and with a deal for Paredes on ice, a transfer could be in the works as we speak.
Juventus signing Douglas Luiz would be a huge coup for Allegri

Juventus’ chase to sign Paredes has been that has confused many fans and pundits given how backwards the move seems to be for the Old Lady, which is why eyeing a player like Luiz, instead, could be such an exciting transfer for the Italian giants given the Villa star’s age and profile.
At 24, Luiz is ready to hit the prime of his career, and signing for a big club like Luiz at this stage of his footballing life will be an incredibly exciting proposition for the Brazilian, who could now win a place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad if he is able move to Juventus this week.
