Liverpool will send Ben Woodburn out on loan in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that German club Fortuna Dusseldorf are leading the chase for the 20-year-old midfielder, and that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will allow the youngster to go out on loan this summer.

Loan spells

Woodburn was on loan at Sheffield United in 2018 and spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Oxford United.

The Wales international midfielder did well for the Us and helped them reach the League One playoff final despite his injury problems.

According to WhoScored, the youngster made 12 starts and two substitute appearances in League One for Oxford this past season, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process.

Sensible move?

Woodburn is a very talented and promising young midfielder, but the Welshman is not going to get too many chances for the first team at Liverpool next season due to competition for places.

Another season on loan in a competitive league would make the 20-year-old a better and more mature player, and would prepare him for a long-term future at Liverpool.
