According to The Times, RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann fancies a move to London as links to Tottenham Hotspur continue.
It’s claimed that Jose Mourinho now faces a real battle to keep his job amid mounting pressure having crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday night.
Having been 2-0 up from the first leg against Dinamo Zagreb, Spurs managed to lose 3-0 – and Mourinho is now left clinging on to his job.
Nagelsmann is thought to be one of Daniel Levy’s top targets if he makes a change, with Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City also on the wish list.
Nagelsmann is believed to be keen on working in London, which is a major boost for Tottenham in their hopes of pulling off quite the coup.
Arsenal are settled with Mikel Arteta, Chelsea have just brought in fellow German boss Thomas Tuchel and none of the other London clubs could realistically land Nagelsmann.
It seems like this could be Tottenham’s big chance to land one of Europe’s top young managers, though it will of course depend on Daniel Levy paying up to offload Mourinho.
That may only come in the summer, but Spurs would be wise to try and tee up a deal for Nagelsmann, who could bring a much more progressive style of play to Tottenham.
