According to Sportske Novosti, Dinamo Zagreb defender Josko Gvardiol has snubbed Leeds United in favour of a move to RB Leipzig.

It’s claimed that Dinamo have finalise the last details of a deal with Leipzig, with Gvardiol believing that they are better for his development.

Leeds were willing to pay him €6million over four years, but Gvardiol is taking less money in order to make the move to Germany.

The report notes that Leipzig may now send Gvardiol back on loan to Dinamo, in order to give him first-team football before heading to the Bundesliga.

Leipzig have strong ties to Dinamo having signed Dani Olmo from them earlier this year, and Gvardiol will now follow the Spaniard.

This is a big blow for Leeds, who have conceded seven goals in their first two games since returning to the Premier League.

Gvardiol, a left-footed centre back, could have been Liam Cooper’s long-term heir at Elland Road, and looks set for a huge future.

Despite throwing money at the 18-year-old, Leeds now appear to have missed out – and need to find other targets to strengthen Marcelo Bielsa’s back line.
