According to The Express, Olympiacos goalkeeper Jose Sa is waiting to be given the green light to fly to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There are doubts over the future of Rui Patricio, with the veteran stopper expected to join Roma this summer.

That means Wolves need to find a replacement, and it currently looks like that player will be another Portuguese goalkeeper in Sa.

Wolves’ move for Sa

Fabrizio Romano broke news of Wolves’ pursuit of Sa earlier this month, suggesting that he was the most likely replacement for Patricio.

It’s now stated that Sa is merely waiting to be told he’s free to fly over to the UK to complete a medical with Wolves, with a £9million deal agreed.

Only ‘minor details’ are still to be sorted, with Sa now allowed to leave the Olympiacos pre-season training camp to finalise his move.

Who is Jose Sa?

Sa, 28, featured for Maritimo before heading to Porto, spending two seasons there as a backup goalkeeper before moving on loan to Olympiacos.

Sa won one league title at Porto and two in Greece, so he’s no stranger to winning silverware – something Wolves will hope he can bring to Molineux.

Jorge Mendes’ agency Gestifute represent Sa, so maybe we shouldn’t be at all surprised that he is heading for Wolves in the near future.
