Italian outlet ASRomaLive claim Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman, who scored for the Gunners on Sunday afternoon, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Lacazette, 30, is yet to sign a new deal at Arsenal and although there remains to be a chance the ex-Lyon man could remain – nothing has been done to sort out his future. Talks are expected at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Roma boast Tammy Abraham up top among other options – and the England striker has scored 20 times in all competitions this term. But they lack a more-experienced option, and Mourinho is keen to bring one in.

It has seen Roma’s attention turn towards Arsenal star Lacazette with the striker in good form – but still out of contract. Despite starting just 19 of his 27 games this term – he has still managed to have a hand in 14 goals.

The Gunners are right to be cautious. They have handed big contracts to the kikes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubemayeng and Willian in the past – but all three players have then left for nothing, having struggled to shine.

Lacazette is of the age that if given a big-money, four-year deal, he could be added to that list. But the Frenchman has a bit more of a bite to him than the aforementioned trio, a bit more of a team player, a desire to work hard.

Perhaps a compromise, maybe a further 12 months with the option of another year could suit all parties. It depends if Lacazette wants to extend his contract, if it is not a long-term deal.
