Gianluca Di Marzio claims Jose Mourinho has joined the race to sign Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi – with West Ham also said to be eyeing the Italy international. A fee of £26million would secure his signature.
Frattesi, 22, joined Sassuolo from Roma back in 2017 as a 17-year-old and went on a series of loans before breaking into the Sassuolo side. During the 18-19, 19-20 and 20-21 seasons he was on loan at Ascoli, Empoli and Monza.

The 2021-22 season was his first proper opportunity at Sassuolo and he took it with both hands. He had a hand in eight goals from midfield during 38 appearances – earning a place in Italy’s squad, winning three caps.
Reports claim West Ham are keen this summer and Frattesi is open to a move to the London Stadium. But now, Mourinho’s Roma have become interested and a fee of £26million would get him signed.
Mourinho has joined West Ham in Frattesi race
Frattesi has enjoyed a stellar season in Serie A. To have done enough to break into Roberto Mancini’s Italy side show how highly he is regarded in Italian football. He would be a superb signing for the Hammers.
Still relatively cheap and only 22, he could be the future of West Ham’s midfield. A real box-to-box type player, able to score but also provide a cog in the engine room, he might be the ideal replacement for Mark Noble.
However, the lure of working with Mourinho for one of Roma’s biggest clubs is certainly tempting – especially, with Roma in the Europa League and West Ham only in the Conference League next term.
