According to The Express, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is growing increasingly confident that the club can sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma this summer.
It’s claimed that Frank Lampard still wants to sign a new centre back this summer, despite using Zouma in wins over Watford and Crystal Palace.
Lampard wants Declan Rice to fill that role, and if he does sign for Chelsea, then Zouma is more likely to be axed than Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen or Fikayo Tomori.
Everton are rivalling Tottenham for Zouma’s signature, which may leave the French defender with a tough decision to make.
Mourinho signed Zouma for Chelsea, but the centre back enjoyed a superb loan spell at Everton last season, meaning he has ties to both clubs.
Chelsea are expected to demand around £25million for Zouma, so it’s surprising to hear of Mourinho’s confidence about a deal going through.

Tottenham don’t have a huge budget to work with this summer, and whilst they do need another centre back, finding the money for such a deal may be tough.
Add in that Chelsea’s relationship with Tottenham isn’t exactly great, and Mourinho’s reunion with Zouma seems a little complicated – even if he thinks it may happen.
