According to Eurosport, Chelsea are preparing to field enquiries for midfielder Jorginho ahead of the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that interest from Juventus has faded, which maybe shouldn’t be a surprise given that Maurizio Sarri – who worked with Jorginho at Napoli and Chelsea – has moved on.
Still, other Serie A teams are thought to be interested, and the 28-year-old may well leave when the winter window opens.
Importance unclear
Jorginho was a favourite of Sarri, making 37 league starts under him in the 2018-19 season. Under Frank Lampard, Jorginho started 27 league games last term.
That’s a noticeable decrease, and he has only played 23 minutes of Chelsea’s last two Premier League games, coming on as a substitute against Burnley and Sheffield United.
The Italian international seems to be a rotational option for Lampard, and with the Chelsea boss keen to sign Declan Rice, Jorginho could be sacrificed.

What about Arsenal?
Sky Sports reported in October that Arsenal wanted to sign Jorginho before the transfer deadline, but they ended up signing Thomas Partey instead.
Mikel Arteta may still admire Jorginho, but with Partey now on board, Jorginho isn’t really what Arsenal need in January.
Arsenal now need a more advanced midfield player, somebody can create in the final third and replace Mesut Ozil, rather than another deeper-lying player, so don’t expect Arsenal to make a new move for Jorginho – even if Chelsea are ready to let him go.
