Jorge Mendes is working to bring £37 million Juventus winger Douglas Costa to Wolverhampton Wanderers after Diogo Jota left for Premier League champions Liverpool, according to Tutto.

The super-agent giveth, the super-agent taketh away.

After playing a key role in the deal that saw Jota become the latest cog in Jurgen Klopp’s already fearsome front line, Mendes is hard at work looking to replace the Portuguese international with one of the most high-profile forwards in European football.

Former Bayern Munich and Shakhtar Donetsk dynamo Costa started just six Serie A games under Maurizio Sarri last season and, if he was hoping that things would change under Andrea Pirlo, he looks set to be disappointed.

The Brazilian played just eight minutes of Juve’s 3-0 thumping of Sampdoria on Sunday – Pirlo’s first game in the dugout.

Two weeks after TuttoJuve claimed that Costa could be used as a makeweight in a deal that would see Adama Traore move to the Italian champions, Mendes appears to have hatched a new plan.

Essentially, by offering an explosive forward once described by Pep Guardiola as ‘one of the best five wingers in the world’ to Wolves as a readymade replacement for Jota.

What’s more, Tuttosport claims that Juventus are preparing for Costa’s departure. Fiorentina speed-machine Federico Chiesa is one of three potential replacements, alongside Stefan El Shaarawy and Yannick Carrasco.

Wolves tend to gravitate towards promising youngsters with massive re-sale potential – a la Jota.
