Aston Villa want to recoup as much of the fee they spent on the player as possible.
Reports in France are suggesting that Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne may struggle to convince Aston Villa loanee Jordan Veretout to join the club – despite his good form for Les Verts.
Buzz Sport is reporting that whilst Saint-Etienne are keen to keep the player, and the midfielder happy to stay, financially it may be a struggle.
The Villa midfielder will want a significant salary to remain at the club whilst the Championship club are hoping to recoup as much of the fee they spent to sign him from Nantes last summer in the transfer.

Considering his form and the knowledge that Saint-Etienne want to keep him, Aston Villa hold plenty of clout at the bargaining table.
The French midfielder arrived at Villa in a deal said to be worth around £8 million by the Daily Mail last summer.

But he struggled to have a major impact at Villa, as the club were relegated to the Championship as the Premier League’s bottom club.
He has been in good form since departing Villa, scoring once in 16 appearances for his new team but becoming a vital first-team member in the process.
