According to the Birmingham Mail, Jordan Lyden is the Aston Villa player most likely to leave on loan in January.

Northampton Town and Blackburn Rovers are two of the clubs who are said to be interested in taking some of Villa’s brighter prospects on temporary spells when the transfer window re-opens.

And the Birmingham Mail believe that Lyden will be made available by Steve Bruce.

Lyden is highly regarded by Villa’s coaches, and has been in fine scoring form for their under-23 side this season.

The Australian midfielder has scored four goals from his position in defensive midfield.

However, Lyden does not appear to be close to breaking into Bruce’s side at this moment in time, and the claret and blues have reportedly decided that his development will be best served by moving elsewhere.

Lyden has been handed just two appearances for Villa’s senior side, with both of those chances coming in the EFL Cup.

If Lyden is made available, there is likely to be a number of lower league sides interested in securing his services.
