According to BBC Sport, West Ham United have agreed a fee with Preston North End for striker Jordan Hugill, and he is travelling down to London for a medical.
The Hammers have snapped up just the one new face so far this month having landed Joao Mario on loan from Inter Milan last week, but have been in the market for a striker too.
Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic are both out injured, whilst Diafa Sakho has been offloaded to Rennes, meaning David Moyes needs a new striker before tonight’s transfer deadline.
Now, BBC Sport report that West Ham have agreed a deal with Preston North End for the transfer of striker Jordan Hugill, with a move looking set to go through before the window shuts.
It’s added that Hugill is now travelling down to London for a medical and to finalise his move to the London Stadium, though it’s unclear just how much West Ham’s bid is worth.
Hugill, 25, has hit 10 goals in 29 outings in all competitions for Preston this season, having scored 12 Championship goals under Simon Grayson last term.
The physical striker has made it all the way up through non-league football with the likes of Seaham Red Star, Consett, Whitby Town and Marske United to put himself on the brink of a move to the Premier League – and West Ham will hope that he can be a source of goals for Moyes.
