Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers appears to have beaten off a sizeable amount of competition to sign Jonny Hayes.
According to a report in the Daily Express, Jonny Hayes has made it clear to Aberdeen that he wants to sign for Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers has been tracking the 29-year-old for much of the summer so far, and it appears that he has now got his man.
Celtic faced competition from Birmingham City, Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest for Hayes’ signature.
However, the attacker was keen to stay in Scotland and wanted a move to Glasgow to link up with Rodgers.
Hayes has been impressed by Celtic’s dominance this past season, and the potential to win trophies with the Bhoys has obviously appealed.
Celtic’s impeding signing of Hayes will significantly weaken their closest rivals last term, ahead of the new campaign.
Hayes had a hugely impressive impressive season with Aberdeen, where he scored 11 goals and claimed 24 assists.
If Hayes does make the move to Celtic, as expected, he will face fierce competition for a starting spot.
Ryan Christie will go to Aberdeen on a season-long loan, rather than a permanent transfer, as part of the move.
