According to The Express & Star, Jonathan Bond will leave West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window and will be replaced by Andy Lonergan.
It has been reported that West Brom will complete the signing of the former Liverpool and Leeds United goalkeeper on Friday.
The Birmingham Mail has also claimed that the Baggies are likely to complete the recruitment of the 37-year-old today.
Jonathan Bond leaving West Bromwich Albion
Bond has been on the books of West Brom since 2018 and signed a one-year extension to his contract in September 2020, as reported on the club’s official website.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper has not played in the league for the Baggies and is clearly a back-up.
It would make sense for the former England Under-21 international goalkeeper to find a new club this month where he can play regular first-team football.
Andy Lonergan joining West Bromwich Albion
Lonergan is a very experienced goalkeeper, and he would be a back-up to Sam Johnstone.
The former Leeds custodian would make make West Brom’s squad stronger and add depth, and he would enhance the Baggies’ chances of escaping the dreaded drop back to the Championship.
