Defender Joleon Lescott is reportedly training with Sunderland.
According to Sky Sports, free agent defender Joleon Lescott joined up with Sunderland for training this morning as he pursues a contract with the club.
Lescott, 34, left Aston Villa over the summer, and after a move to Rangers fell through, he headed to Greece to join AEK Athens.

The centre back played just four games for AEK before suffering a knee injury, and the Greek side decided to terminate Lescott’s contract back in November.
Now, Lescott is searching for a new club, and Sky Sports report that the defender joined up with Sunderland today, joining in with the team’s training session ahead of this weekend’s game against West Brom.

Veteran Lescott is no stranger to Sunderland boss David Moyes, having worked with the Scot during his spell at Everton, and he could become the latest former Toffee to earn a contract under Moyes.
Steven Pienaar and Victor Anichebe were also free agents before being handed deals by Moyes, and Lescott – who made almost 150 appearances under Moyes at Everton – could follow suit.
With Lamine Kone currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Moyes is lacking cover at the back, and Premier League veteran Lescott would fit the bill, given his free agent status and Sunderland’s lack of funds.
A deal until the end of the season could work well for Sunderland, but Lescott’s lack of match action in recent months means he most likely won’t be an instant solution to Sunderland’s defensive woes, having conceded 12 goals in the last four games.
