Report: Jokanovic recommended three signings to Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest reportedly pulled the plug on three transfers during the January window.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (20/1; page 63), Nottingham Forest pulled the plug on three transfers this month after Slavisa Jokanovic priced himself out of the race to become the club’s new manager.

Jokanovic was seemingly in line to take over from Aitor Karanka at the City Ground, but the report suggests that the 50-year-old’s demands ultimately proved to be too high for the Championship side.

Not only did that prolong Forest’s search for their new manager – which ended with the appointment of Martin O’Neill – but The Sun on Sunday (20/1; page 63) reports that it also proved costly in the transfer market.

The report claims that Jokanovic had recommended three players to the club’s hierarchy and the deals were seemingly all set to be done when talks between Forest and the former Fulham boss collapsed.

Forest have wasted little time to back O’Neill in the market, with Yohan Benalouane arriving from Leicester City to become their first signing of the window.

And the supporters will be hoping that he becomes the first of many. Forest are, by no means, out of the play-off race at this stage of the season, and their squad has a lot of potential.

O’Neill’s appointment ensured that a difficult period ended on a positive note. And a couple of exciting signings could be exactly what they need to really get that momentum going.
