John Terry appears likely to stay at Aston Villa despite links to Chelsea and Derby County.

According to the Daily Star, Aston Villa coach John Terry isn’t looking to leave the club, and is likely to stay over leaving for Chelsea or Derby County.
Terry was brought in alongside Dean Smith back in October of last year, and he played a key role in the success of Tyrone Mings, Axel Tuanzebe and Tammy Abraham at Villa Park.
Now, his work isn’t going unnoticed, and he has been linked with either following Frank Lampard back to Chelsea as his assistant manager, or even replacing Lampard as Derby County boss.
However, it’s believed that Villa are confident Terry is staying as he has indicated he’s in no rush to leave, and will stay for one more year at Villa Park before considering his options.
That won’t be a huge surprise to Villa, as many will know that Terry has aspirations of becoming a manager in his own right, and he’s cutting his teeth at Villa Park.

Learning under an experienced boss like Smith will do wonders for his prospects, and by having one year of Premier League coaching under his belt too, Terry will be in a much stronger position next summer.
Terry may have his eyes on the Chelsea job one day, and that may be difficult if he goes as Lampard’s assistant, whilst Derby face Financial Fair Play issues and may be weaker next season – meaning it’s no great surprise that he’s edging towards a Villa star, at least for another year.
