Following Sunderland’s relegation to the Championship, most of the key players are all likely to leave the club.
However, one player who is set to commit his future at the Stadium of Light is defender, John O’Shea.
The former Manchester United defender joined Sunderland in 2011, and has made 189 Premier League appearances for the Black Cats.
His contract will expire at the end of this month, and as a result several Championship clubs have shown an interest in signing him, one of them being Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Sunderland are yet to appoint a new manager. Even though there is an ongoing uncertainty regarding the ownership situation at Wearside, the Irish international is still expected, according to The Sunderland Echo, to put pen to paper on a new 12 month deal to continue his career at the Stadium of Light.

O’Shea has already stated his desire to stay at the club, but has admitted that the decision rests with the cub.
Sunderland hierarchy are keen to retain his services, as they feel an experienced centre-back is required to provide much needed continuity heading into the next season.
