Sunderland star John O’Shea will reportedly join Reading in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that the 37-year-old former Manchester United star will sign a one-year contract with Championship outfit Reading.
O’Shea, who can operate as a defender or as a defensive midfielder, was reportedly hoping to carry on playing for the Black Cats, but new manager Jack Ross is claimed to have not taken the option of an additional 12 months.
The Irish Sun has claimed that the former Republic of Ireland international, who reportedly cost Sunderland £6 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Manchester United in 2011, will sign a one-year deal with the Royals.
Good decision?
O’Shea is past his prime, and with Sunderland playing in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship, it made sense for the Black Cats to move on the 37-year-old.
However, the former Republic of Ireland international could prove to a good signing for Reading in the Championship.
