Harry Kane has disappointed quite a lot of Tottenham Hotspur supporters.
The Spurs hitman is the club’s most important player by a thousand miles and has been for about six seasons on the trot.
But it was reported before the summer began that Kane – who won his third Premier League golden boot last season – had decided to leave North London and his subsequent interview with Gary Neville more or less confirmed that.
There’s been a bit of speculation about him going to Manchester City a little earlier this week.
And according to The Daily Mail, the 27-year-old striker has not only disappointed the fanbase, but even billionaire owner of the Lilywhites Joe Lewis is angry.
The report adds that Kane has weakened his chances of securing a move away from Tottenham for how he has gone about trying to leave.
Don’t get hopes up
When Tottenham fans read that Kane’s attitude makes Lewis less likely to sanction a sale, don’t read too much into it.
This principle is as old as the concept of business itself, but money talks and for the right amount, Lewis won’t hesitate to offload the player.
The question is, what is the right amount?
The good news for the Lilywhites is that Kane has three years left on his contract, which favours the club in terms of negotiating.
And a player like Kane, coming into the prime of his career with a contract until 2024, is easily worth more than £100 million.
Manchester City reportedly denounced suggestions that they were willing to pay £160 million for him earlier in the week.
But honestly, it won’t be far off that if the Sky Blues want Kane.
