West Ham United’s move for Kostas Fortounis could impact Nottingham Forest.

According to the Nottingham Post, Joao Carvalho’s future at Nottingham Forest depends on whether or not West Ham United secure a deal for Kostas Fortounis.

Carvalho, 22, was a big-money signing for Forest last summer, but he registered just four goals and eight assists, leaving some a little disappointed.

The Portuguese playmaker has been attempting to convince Martin O’Neill of his quality, but he could end up in Greece this summer amid talk of a move to Olympiakos.

Evangelos Marinakis being involved with both teams means players have moved between the two in the past, and Carvalho could be the latest – but it hinges on West Ham.

The Nottingham Post report that Olympiakos would only want Carvalho if they end up selling star playmaker Fortounis to West Ham, eyeing up Carvalho as his direct replacement.

Fortounis starred this past season with 17 goals and 16 assists from midfield, and The Sun claim that West Ham have held talks with the Greek giants about signing their star man for £16million.

Director of football Mario Husillos knows Fortounis from his own time at Olympiakos, so a move this summer is far from a surprise, with West Ham hoping to force through a move.

It would seemingly spark other moves, with Carvalho potentially on the way to Greece, which would in turn leave Forest with a hole to fill themselves.
