The former Rangers played and coach managed the Ibrox side on a temporary basis before Steven Gerrard’s appointment.

The former Rangers player and assistant manager, Jimmy Nicholl, could return to the Scottish game five months after leaving Ibrox.
The Scottish Sun reports that Nicholl, who replaced Graeme Murty as Rangers’ caretaker at the end of last season, looks set to join the St Mirren backroom staff.
The newspaper claims the 61-year-old has been asked by Oran Kearney, the Buddies’ manager, if he can help out behind the scenes.
And it adds his appointment could be made within the next fortnight, albeit not immediately.

Born in Canada to Northern Irish parents, Nicholl played as a defender for Rangers across two spells in the mid-to-late 1980s, and returned to Ibrox in January this year after Murty had his spell as interim boss extended.
He went on to lead Rangers’ final three games of last season, but resumed his role within Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland coaching team after Steven Gerrard’s appointment as manager at Ibrox.
