Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch is personally driving the club’s interest behind Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on Twitter that Premier League club Leeds and Major League Soccer outfit Philadelphia Union are in talks over left-back Wagner.

Benfica are also pushing to sign the 25-year-old German defender in the summer transfer window, according to Jacobs.

Earlier this week, The Daily Mail reported that Leeds are considering making a bid for Wagner.

Good signing for Leeds United?

In our view, Kai Wagner would be a good signing for Leeds United in the summer transfer window and would give head coach Jesse Marsch another valuable option at left-back.

Junior Firpo is the main left-back at Leeds, but the former Barcelona player had fitness problems.

And Leeds also need better competition.

Wagner is one of the better left-backs in Major League Soccer who consistently plays well and has a wealth of experience.

The 25-year-old German could be able to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
