According to Sky Sports, Jesse Lingard turned down Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion before deciding to make the move to West Ham United from Manchester United.
It has been reported that Lingard will join West Ham on loan from Premier League rivals United in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder will stay at the London Stadium until the end of the season.
Sky Sports have added that both Newcastle and West Brom approached the representatives of Lingard about signing the England international on loan, but the player himself turned down the Magpies and the Baggies.
Sensible decision?
West Brom are in real danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season, while Newcastle appear to be getting dragged into the relegation dogfight.
West Ham are doing extremely well in the Premier League at the moment and currently find themselves fifth in the standings.
The Hammers are going places, and it makes sense that Lingard, who can also play as a winger, is joining them instead of fighting against the dreaded drop with Newcastle or West Brom.
