Aston Villa are looking at potential goalkeeping additions.

According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, FC Copenhagen goalkeeper Jesse Joronen has turned down a move to Aston Villa in order to join Brescia.
Joronen, 26, may be familiar to some English football fans having made his name with Fulham in their Premier League days, whilst also having loan spells at Maidenhead United, Cambridge United, Accrington Stanley and Stevenage.
The Finn ended up leaving Fulham in 2017 for AC Horsens in Denmark, and his fine form earned him a big move to Danish giants FC Copenhagen last summer, penning a five-year deal.
It already seems that Joronen is on the move again though, as it’s believed he has agreed a move to Brescia – and has rejected approaches from Aston Villa in the process.
That’s what Di Marzio claims, meaning the 6ft 5in giant will join Massino Cellino’s newly-promoted side in Serie A next season, and leave Villa to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper.
Villa are certainly looking for a new goalkeeper, but a move for Joronen – even with his experience in English football – would have been a surprise signing.

Joronen doesn’t really represent a big enough upgrade on Jed Steer to warrant a move, and banking on a foreign goalkeeper to star at Villa Park hasn’t really worked out with Orjan Nyland, Andre Moreira or Lovre Kalinic.
Di Marzio is usually pretty reliable, so maybe this really is true, but fans would no doubt rather have a goalkeeper with some Premier League experience, like Neil Etheridge or Tom Heaton, than a bit of a gamble like Joronen.
