Nottingham Forest have been linked with Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe since the summer.

According to the Nottingham Post, Jermain Defoe is open to joining Nottingham Forest in January.

Forest were interested in Defoe in the summer, and have continued to be linked with the Bournemouth striker throughout the season.

Defoe has struggled for game time this term, and has featured for just 21 minutes in the Premier League.

The 36-year-old is now said to be open to a move away from Bournemouth, with the striker potentially happy to join Forest, if Aitor Karanka’s side do make an offer in the new year.

Whether Forest will be keen to snap up Defoe now, remains to be seen.

Lewis Grabban has led the line well for the Reds this term, and Karanka also has Karim Ansarifard and Daryl Murphy available, who can play up top.

Defoe would offer Forest a clinical finish though, and his experience could be key in the promotion battle.

Karanka’s side are currently in seventh place in the Championship table, after losing their last match against Preston.
