The Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper and Bournemouth striker are closing in on moves to Sunderland, according to Sky Sports.

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jason Steele is the second player set to undergo a medical at Sunderland on Wednesday, according to Sky Sports.

Teamtalk reported on Tuesday that Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban was due on Wearside today ahead of a season-long loan move.

And Sky Sports say Sunderland are hoping to conclude a deal for Steele as well, who it is claimed will arrive on a permanent basis.

Signing Steele, who hails from the north east and began his career at Middlesbrough, should go some way towards filling the void left by the departures of Jordan Pickford and Vito Mannone this summer.

Although relegated with Blackburn last season, the 26-year-old is vastly experienced, playing close to 250 games at Championship level, and is a former England Under-21 international.

Sunderland, who hired Simon Grayson as manager at the end of last month, have already recruited Everton trio Tyias Browning, Brendan Galloway (both loan) and Aiden McGeady, along with Bury striker James Vaughan.
