Celtic seemingly won’t be re-signing Manchester City defender Jason Denayer.

According to The Mirror, Manchester City defender Jason Denayer has snubbed a move back to Celtic, in order to re-join another former club of his, Galatasaray.

The Bhoys have added Kundai Benyu, Olivier Ntcham, Jonny Hayes and Patrick Roberts this summer to boost their options out wide and in midfield, but Brendan Rodgers is also keen to add defensive options.

Ajax Cape Town defender Rivaldo Coetzee saw his move to Celtic break down over the weekend after failing a medical, leaving Rodgers to consider alternatives in the transfer market as he seeks a new centre back.

Now, The Mirror report that Celtic were attempting to bring Manchester City defender Jason Denayer back to Celtic Park, but the Belgian has decided to re-join Galatasaray instead.

It’s claimed that Rodgers had lined up a loan move for Denayer, but despite interest from the Bhoys, as well as teams in France and Russia, the centre back will be joining Turkish giants Galatasaray before the transfer deadline.

Denayer, 22, spent the 2014-15 season on loan with Celtic, impressing alongside Virgil van Dijk whilst notching six goals in 44 games, before being sent out on loan to Galatasaray and, more recently, Sunderland.

Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton looks on during the Coca Cola League Two Match between Lincoln City and Northampton Town at Sincil Bank Stadium on March 27, 2010 in Lincoln, England.

With no first-team opportunities available under Pep Guardiola, Denayer is having to go out on loan again, but having snubbed a return to Celtic, Rodgers must go back to the drawing board again in his pursuit of a new defender.

Denayer’s alleged snub hasn’t gone down well with former Celtic striker and current pundit Chris Sutton, who has taken to Twitter to suggest that Denayer has shown a lack of ambition by picking Galatasaray over a Champions League club in Celtic.
